Marvin Miller, Optometrist and Councilman

Dr. Marvin Miller, 55, a Teaneck councilman since October, was buried yesterday in Riverside Cemetery, Rochelle Park. He died Saturday in New York University Hospital.
Dr. Miller, an optometrist for 30 years, had a private practice in Ramsey. He formerly had offices in Midland Park and Waldwick.
He was appointed to the township for for one year to fill the unexpired term of Councilwoman Judith Glassman, who resigned because she and her husband were moving to New York.
Teaneck Mayor Bernard E. Brooks said yesterday that probably no decision would be made regarding Dr. Miller's unexpired term until the council meeting March 20. Brooks said the seat could be left vacant until the November election or the council could make an interim appointment until the election.
A cochairman of Teaneck's advisory board of community relations, Dr. Miller was a member of the Jewish Community Center, a past commander of the Jewish War Veterans, and a past president of the Teaneck Lions club. He also served on the executive boards of the townships parent-teacher association and Little League.
He was a graduate of Washington and Jefferson College in Washington, Pa. and the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia.
A Teaneck resident for 26 years, Dr. Miller was born and grew up in Paterson.Surviving are his wife, Ina Farb Miller, two daughters, Jill R. of New York City and Beth M. at home; a son, Gary at home; and a sister, Norma Sirota of Ridgefield.
Funeral services were yesterday at the Gutterman-Musicant Funeral Home in Hackensack. A memorial period will be observed at the family residence in Teaneck.
